In a settlement of pre-WWI German East Africa, few figures were as universally loathed as the greedy, slovenly, arrogant speculator August Bolte (Jean Hersholt). After squeezing a debtor back home for the hand of his beautiful daughter (Eleanor Boardman) in marriage, the unhappy bride finds a champion in the post's newly appointed commandant (Ralph Forbes)... and "The Snake" will find his comeuppance once war breaks out. Restored early Technicolor rarity co-stars Claude Fleming, Will Stanton. 78 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English.
