Xavier Giannoli
In the southwest of 19th-century France, the cleverness of young aspiring poet Lucien Chardon (Benjamin Voisin) won him a patron and clandestine lover in the wealthy Madame de Bargeton (Cécile de France). Their sojourn to Paris, however, found him struggling and settling for a newspaper critic's life... and the ultimate corruption of his personal ideals. Acclaimed take on the Honoré de Balzac novel also stars Xavier Dolan, Vincent LaCoste, Jeanne Balibar, and Gérard Depardieu. 149 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: French; Subtitles: English. In French with English subtitles.
