The compelling rediscovery of Barriere's works has been led by Cocset's and Les Basses Reunies' advocacy, indeed Barriere's compositions are increasingly considered seminal to both cellists and Baroque instrumental repertory. The Sonata For Pardessus features a performance of the seldom heard pardessus, pitched like a violin and held like a viol and here played by Balestracci with an exquisite touch.
