Ella Fitzgerald
In 1967, Ella Fitzgerald toured throughout Europe with Duke Ellington and his orchestra. A concert in West Berlin was followed by a day off, which was used for an adventurous 'side trip' to East Berlin, arranged by Ronald Trisch, the head of the East German music agency, and Horst Lippmann, the West Berlin representative for major American artists.
