In 1954, the 'Queen of Jazz Singing' released this early masterpiece with jazz trumpeter Clifford Brown and several other excellent musicians such as Herbie Mann and Paul Quinichette. Her famous rendition of 'Lullaby of Birdland' opens the session, which is regarded as a high point in jazz singing. Connoisseurs praise the album as one of the strongest in Vaughan's career, with a great vocal performance and a virtuoso Brown. With the 'Verve Acoustic Sounds' series, Universal Japan is reissuing great recordings from the 'Verve' label in the best possible sound quality. This title is an SHM SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It allows a much better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs.
