I began writing as a way of dealing with overwhelming feelings, following a great deal of loss in my life - bereavement, separation, divorce, as well as loss of home and job. It was a struggle to cope with it all, and writing was my way of releasing some of the inner pressure I felt. Thus most of these poems were written because I was compelled to do so. I then found myself writing about a wider range of topics, on anything which inspired me, including the oil painting shown on the front cover. This expanded still further when a friend gave me 5 random titles to see what I could do with them, and I found that the words flowed easily. My poems were well received by people who read them, a couple were put forward by a friend to be published in a magazine, and I was encouraged to publish a book. So, here it is!
