There is a reason pecan, chess and cream pies have been served for decades in southern kitchens. They are still as delicious today as when our grandmother's first made them. A fresh baked pecan, chess or cream pie is still a must for holidays, parties, family dinners and potlucks. Pecan and chess pies are easy to make. Purchase a refrigerated or frozen pie crust and you can have a pie in the oven in minutes. While cream pies require a little further preparation, no pie can compare to a creamy custard filling and mile high meringue. A pie lover's dream is a great old fashioned cream pie. Cream pies are divine and come in so many variations. The combination of pecan, chess and cream pie is known to great southern cooks as the "Trinity of Pies". If you can make these pies, your guest are guaranteed delicious food. I've also included our favorite southern custard pies. Southern custard pies are just too good and easy to be left out.
