The Bolognese Michael Stonewood

The Bolognese is a small breed of dog that is a part of the Bichon typing. The Bolognese originates from Italy and its name 'Bolognese' is a reference to the central Italian city of Bologna. The breed is part of the Toy Dog grouping and is considered to be a companion dog, as it was nor bred for a working purpose. The Bolognese's exact history is a mystery but it is known that it is closely related to the Maltese - however it is unknown if the Bolognese or the Maltese came first! The breed is small with a compact body and a distinctive white single coat. The Bolognese's distinctive single coat falls in loose open ringlets that cover the entirety of its body while its face is covered in shorter white hairs. The breed's coat is known to not shed often, but it will still require regular grooming to prevent matting. Due to the fact that the breed barely sheds, the Bolognese is considered to be a hypoallergenic breed and perfect for any household that contains someone with a dog hair allergy. The Bolognese is known to be a playful, intelligent, loyal and affectionate breed. They make perfect household pets for families with small children and other household pets due to their easy going nature.
