After a series of seemingly unconnected events, 17-year old Kaitlin is kicked out of the house by her alcoholic father. Alone, shocked and devastated, she has nowhere to go. How will she manage? High school offers some refuge and she has a part-time job but this isn't nearly enough to manage. She considers living in a filthy squat with homeless drug addicts and alcoholics. Winter is coming and it would provide a roof over her head. It's a poor option. She eventually discovers a group of teens living in a makeshift shelter in the woods. Never really warm, they do manage until one girl gives birth in the icy frozen campsite. Then everything changes. The authorities clear them out of their shelter but miss Kaitlin who is off at school. She is alone again. Disaster piles on top of disaster. Who can she trust? Isn't there anyone? This is Kaitlin's story, a story that happens far too often. This is her struggle with homelessness, fighting the odds and how she discovers that she has a Mighty Helper who was there all the time. She was never alone.
