The transcribing of Norfolk Gravestone Inscriptions was a long and sometimes challenging experience, but David Bird has had this overwhelming passion to get as many of these written down as soon as possible. Over the last few years he has noticed that these wonderful old relics of the past are deteriorating at an alarming rate, their writings will soon be lost forever due to the weathering of the stonework. We must protect and respect these wonderful tombstones as they are pieces of ancient history. It is our hope that others who come after us will do the same. Those wonderful epitaphs that have been written on these tombstones are an important part of our family history, they have sometimes been used in breaking down brick walls for family historians. This book will hopefully be an archive to the lives of those people who have passed on before us and will be there for others who come after our own time.
