In the Moment
Marko Van Gaans
Two of the strongest triggers for our memories are smells and sounds, especially music. In the Moment is a disarray of autobiographical sketches shaped around a playlist of 44 songs. It is the examined narrative of moments that took the author's breath away, vividly recalled by the music.
With tales from his eight years as a non-commissioned officer in the Royal Netherlands Army; his travels through Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas; and his life as an expat in Laos. In the Moment is a brutally honest global rollercoaster of hot-blooded highs and lows.
A quixotic polemicist by nature, Marko uses a street-savvy narration style and real-life stories to connect with you at an intimate, intense and individual level.
Like a Rothko canvas, this memoir is "an occasion for the sadness in the author to meet the sadness in you, and that way, everyone will be less lonely."
Find the music, sit back, read and enjoy the ride!
