Its effects on victims are profound, frightening, and searing. Janatta was a victim of sexual assault in her home. Her ordeal began at age twelve and continued for many years.

The combination of her father being the principal wage earner and a submissive and dependent mother shut out revealing her plight to her mother. The prevailing sexist bias against women in the society added to her woes.

Janatta was forced to seek out her own solutions, and she decided on suicide as the best means to end her unbearable life.

She overcame her severe adversity through friendship, perseverance, and love.
