Researcher Rosemary Torrance gets an unwelcome surprise when she encounters a long-lost manuscript which has turned up in the University Library in the most mysterious of circumstances.

Through the ancient lanes and courtyards of Cambridge, Rosemary's life is invaded by a sinister presence, leading her on a quest for the true identity of Elizabethan occultist Richard Bonner, and the nature of his apparent links with the strange worlds of John Dee and William Blake. The consequences are life-changing both for Rosemary and for the woman she is falling in love with.
