Essay aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Nanjing University (Inst. für deutsche Philologie), Veranstaltung: -, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Daniel Kehlmann, born 1975 in Munich, is one of the most successful and renowned novelists of contemporary German literature. Mehrens' essay focuses on intertextual and "intermedial" (i.e. mostly movie) references within three of Kehlmann's novels including the two recent ones "Fame" ("Ruhm") and "Measuring the Word" ("Die Vermessung der Welt"). Extraordinarily amazing is what Mehrens found out on a real case of alleged insanity in Munich involving a carpet salesman and his ex-wife, a plot in parts thrillingly similar to the case of David Mahler, protagonist in the Kehlmann novel "Mahlers Zeit".
