A magnetic resonance and computed tomography compatible device was designed and built to apply physiologically relevant muscle forces to cadaveric knee joints with high levels of precision. The device is powered by three hydraulic cylinders, which are used to set flexion angle and simulate muscle loading. Potential research applications include validations of knee joint computational models and in-vitro evaluations of surgical interventions or simulated disease/injury states.
