RAYE | This Music May Contain Hope
The young R&B superstar finally unveils her long-awaited follow-up to her hugely successful 2023 debut album "My 21st Century Blues".
With "This Music May Contain Hope", RAYE continues her development as one of the most honest and versatile voices in modern British music. The album appears as a clear artistic manifesto, equal parts vulnerable and resilient. Themes that shine through in the album title "This Music May Contain Hope" - a crucial and much-needed message in the trying times we find ourselves in.
The album, set in 4 “seasons” with each side of the vinyl being a different season, takes listeners on a sonic journey that begins with darkness and ends with light.
RAYE: “Music is medicine. I’ve always said that, and I guess I’m in the process of making medicine for myself that I can share with the world. I want us all to say to ourselves that it’s going to be all right, and I’m going to have faith in the seeds that I’ve planted beneath the snow. I wanted to create something that is a hug or bed or soft place for that person who needs it.”
Among the album’s tracks is the lead single “Where Is My Husband!”, which became an instant global hit.
RAYE (born Rachel Keen) has, in remarkably few years, become one of the UK’s biggest artists on the international stage. She first made her mark as a songwriter, working with both British and global pop and R&B names long before the wider public truly discovered her as a solo artist.
Her major breakthrough arrived in the early 2020s, when RAYE stepped fully into the spotlight under her own name. After several years of commercially successful singles and high-profile collaborations, she moved in a more independent creative direction—culminating in her debut album "My 21st Century Blues" in 2023. The album drew widespread attention and positioned RAYE at the center of conversations around contemporary pop, R&B, and soul.
The single “Escapism.” in particular became a defining turning point, earning major streaming momentum and international chart placements. As a full body of work, the album showcased an artist pairing sharp, emotionally direct songwriting with a notably genre-fluid sound—blending elements of pop, hip-hop, jazz, and classic soul into one cohesive statement.
RAYE’s ascent was further cemented at the BRIT Awards 2024, where she made history by winning six awards in a single night—the most ever achieved by one artist.
