Billy Ward was more than your average front man. Julliard trained, he had an ear for talent, the foresight to see musical trends and the business savvy of a record producer. At the start of the '50s he tuned into America's craving for a blues and gospel sound. For his lead singer he picked Clyde McPhatter, who would go on to form the Drifters. After Clyde left, he hired Jackie Wilson! This greatest hits album includes both men's hits with the band and the group's ultimate #1 that featured neither lead singer: "Sixty-Minute Man."
